PEOPLE PLAZAS
People Plazas activate existing Department of Transportation malls, plazas, and triangles with the introduction of new programming and retail opportunities. People Plazas can be activated through a wide variety of efforts including community events, cultural programming, art installations, and outdoor furniture. People Plaza efforts can be spearheaded by local community group or through the Activate! People Plaza program.
Activate! People Plaza Program
The Activate! People Plaza Program is a public-private partnership between the City of Chicago and Latent Design Corporation, which was selected through a competitive RFP process to manage and implement the program. The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) launched the program in 2015 to promote events that would spur community and economic activity in public plazas throughout the City. Please visit the Activate! Chicago website for more information.
