ISW South Chicago: Commercial Avenue Corridor Improvements

Design Area: 83rd Street to 93rd Street and 92nd Street, Anthony to South Harbor

Project description

South Chicago is one of 12 key commercial corridors in the 10 communities – the “front doors” to the neighborhoods – INVEST South/West collectively supports infrastructure development as a part of the initial phase of Mayor Lightfoot’s INVEST South/West commercial corridor improvement strategy. In South Chicago, the priority corridor is Commercial Avenue from 85th to 92nd streets, as well as adjacent blocks on 92nd.

The scope of this CDOT led project includes streetscape improvements on 83rd Street to 93rd Street and 92nd Street, Anthony to South Harbor. The project will provide safe, walkable, and attractive streets that will foster community and economic growth.  This effort will support the INVEST South/West initiative to re-activate neighborhood cores that have historically served as focal points for pedestrian activity, shopping, services, transportation, public spaces and quality-of life amenities for local residents.
