ISW Greater Englewood Corridor Improvements

Design Area: 63rd Street, Loomis Boulevard to Wallace Avenue; Halsted Street, 59th Street to 66th Street

Project description

Greater Englewood, consisting of the Englewood and West Englewood communities, is one of 12 key commercial corridors in the 10 communities – the “front doors” to the neighborhoods – INVEST South/West collectively supports infrastructure development as a part of the initial phase of Mayor Lightfoot’s INVEST South/West commercial corridor improvement strategy.  Based on feedback received at the INVEST South/West kick off meeting, the priority focus for public and private investment is the intersection of 63rd and Halsted streets and adjacent blocks.

The scope of this CDOT led project includes streetscape improvements on 63rd Street, Loomis Boulevard to Wallace Avenue and Halsted Street, 59th Street to 66th Street. The project will provide safe, walkable, and attractive streets that will foster community and economic growth.  This effort will support the INVEST South/West initiative to re-activate neighborhood cores that have historically served as focal points for pedestrian activity, shopping, services, transportation, public spaces and quality-of life amenities for local residents.
